Synopsis

In 2113, the world faces an extraordinary pandemic crisis.  Dr. Syia Case, National Institutes of Health Director of Epidemiology, and her husband, White House Chief of Staff Paul Case, struggle against increasingly questionable actions by President Daniel Piper.  The couple and a few other key figures in the administration stand up to the Black Swan, a term used to describe a catastrophic incident that no one can foresee or imagine because of its unprecedented impact.  Despite heavy personal costs and seemingly insurmountable odds they heroically fight to save the United States from a depraved president and humankind from a novel, virulent virus.   
 

About The Author
Helen Hynson Vettori (Pronounced: HELL-lun HIN-suhn Vɛ-TOR-ee [See below.]) served the National Capital Region first as an EMT/Paramedic. Post 9/11, she joined the Department of Homeland Security workforce as a Senior Medical Intelligence Analyst. Then she became an Emergency Manager, specializing in planning and preparing for, responding to, and recovering from biological threats to include pandemics. Her subject matter expertise became sought after across many Agencies and Departments within the Federal Government. For example, in both 2012 and 2016, Vettori acted as the Point of Dispensing Coordinator for National Special Security Events in case of anthrax attacks. Retired when SARS COVID-19 emerged, she puzzled over the responses playing out in the US.  As a result, she wrote this novel.  Currently, she lives in Leesburg, VA with her husband.
